To get data from a variable in multiple files. And then create an series from month 1 till end

Hi, I need to get monthly outstanding and payment balance from monthly files. And then need to create a series to check last balance and last payment made ever in any month. How do I do this?
I am thinking of appending data first. Please suggest.
