Hi experts,

Need to deploy SAS Viya 4 on OpenShift running on VMWare.

VMWare supplies a CSI Driver called csi.vsphere.vmware.com any experience with this driver for RWO block storage access. This driver is used by the OOTB StorageClass named "thin" in OpenShift. Any experience from the field about this driver? We plan to use it as the default StorageClass which means it will be used for all Stateful services and in addition we plan to use it for SAS Work + CAS Cache.

For RWX (NFS) we plan to use another driver from HPE called HPE CSI Driver any experience with this?

Thanks

Hello, apologies I saw your question just now. I'm the WW Solutions Product Manager for SAS Viya in HPE.

The answer is Yes. The HPE CSI driver can be used for RWX storage classes. If you're running OpenShift on VMware with FC, the vSphere CSI Driver is the only option for RWO. If you need RWX file you can use the HPE CSI Driver with foreignStorageClasses on vSphere CSI RWO volumes. Refer to https://scod.hpedev.io/csi_driver/using.html#using_a_foreign_storageclass.

Feel free to reach out at anshul.nagori@hpe.com if you have more questions.
