Greetings,

As a reminder, SAS Viya 3.4 is not yet supported on RHEL 8 or SUSE 15 (see the Operating System Support page for the current list of supported versions).   HOWEVER, there are no issues installing SAS 9.4 on RHEL 8 or SUSE 15.

This is important to note since several of the public cloud providers have recently changed their default versions of RHEL and SUSE to these unsupported versions on all their instance types.

To override the default operating system version for AWS, simply do:

Step 1:  Choose AMI   SELECT Community AMIs, the Quick Start tab only has RHEL 8

Step 2:  Check the box for Red Hat

All the older RHEL OS’s are available there.   8, several 7.x, even some 6.x and 5.x

If you’re unsure how to override the default version, please consult your public cloud provider for instructions.

Cheers,

Margaret

Any info on RHEL 8 support for Viya? Our IT department has a requirement to upgrade, so wanted to pass on any available info. Thanks.

Hi @jglew ,

this information you can always find it available in the SAS Supported Operating Systems matrix:

https://support.sas.com/supportos/list?requestAction=summary&outputView=platform&sasrelease=&platfor...

As of today, last version is SAS Viya 3.5 and RHEL 8 is not supported in any SAS Viya installation.

Not sure about future versions.
