I've received above error message when trying to attach 3 simple .sas files created via Notepad++ (files attached below in .zip).

Does anyone know why this is happening and how to avoid it?

The workaround was to create and attach the files via a zip archive file as done here.

It used to accept .sas files.  But it never displayed them properly.

The work around for that was to just rename the file using .txt extension (SAS program files are just plain old text files).  Try doing that with your file.
