The address that is used in email notifications has change.  It is now showing as

SAS Support Communities <communities@sas.com>

before Tuesday 1/21/2020 it was

SAS Support Communities <replies-disabled@sas.com>

Was this on purpose?

Is it a permanent change?

Asking because it has broken my Outlook rules for classifying incoming email.

One more change for you @Tom -- and others.  We are now sending notfications via community.admin@sas.com.

Back story:

  • Last week, we discovered that our notifications were not getting through to many members.  A change in various systems was causing our "replies-disabled@sas.com" messages to end up in spam folders or the virtual bit bucket.
  • As the name implies, replies-disabled@sas.com is not a real monitored mailbox.
  • We changed to use our existing communities@sas.com address.  That's the e-mail address that our SAS Communities team does monitor.  In the meantime, we fixed the issue with messages not passing spam checks.
  • Gosh oh-mighty, but there are a ton of notifications that go out to our thousands of members.  Our mailbox was suddenly flooded with out-of-office messages and other noise...but with the occasional message that needs action from us.
  • Hence, we created community.admin@sas.com.  That's just for the notifications.  We will monitor this to an extent, but to get our attention in e-mail, please continue to use communities@sas.com.

Hi @Tom, sorry the change wrecked your Outlook rules. Yes, we changed it to diagnose notification problems for a subset of community members. Don't know if the change will be permanent. Hang in there.
