I purchased a new computer and need to transfer my current SAS license/registration to the new computer. I'm having trouble finding directions or support online to do this. Can any one point me to a resource or provide a general overview of how to do it?
Thanks in advance.

The license is dealt with during the installation with the SAS wizards.

What version of SAS are you using? Is it SAS UE or a fully licensed version? Who installed it the first time?

Ok, when you purchased it from your University you got the installation materials. The easiest method is to install it again from scratch. Assuming you're not migrating your machine over using Windows migration (does that exist, I'm used to Macs) it may move everything over and you may just need to apply your SETINIT. If you changed OS, to Windows, it's possible you need a different version.
The SETINIT, is a text file that contains your licensing information.

SAS v9.4. I installed it on a personal computer about 6 months ago (purchased from my university).

Hello,
Did the response help with moving SAS license to a new computer? I have similar issue. How did you address this issue? I have installed for only 21 days.
Thanks.

I recommend to do a fresh installation on the new computer. You never know what kind of differences need to be dealt with, but the SDW catches most of them.

Thanks.
Since it's a single user, do I need to first uninstall SAS on the old machine? How does one tell SAS to transfer the license to the new computer?

SAS does not "phone home" to report license usage. With server licenses, a server name can be included in the setinit, but I don't think you have that in a single-user setup.
Just deinstall SAS on the old machine (AFTER you have made sure that the new install works!), and you're safe in terms of license legality.
