Hi All,

I am getting below error when I try to open SASApp from SAS EG. Any suggestions.

Timeout errors typically are the result of a firewall dropping the packets between the client (Enterprise Guide) and the server.

How can we resolve this as our other ENVs are working fine except dev

Open that port on the firewall between compute.dev.com and Enterprise Guide's host.

Ports (8581 - 8801 TCP) are open to SAS EG clients .

That error indicates the port you are trying to connect to is 42371.

what is this port for? which services use this port?

That is part of the ephemeral port range, so it is not service specific but what you'd get if you asked the operating system to give you an unused port to use. Typically firewall rules are formulated to permit the ephemeral port range inbound traffic for established connections (i.e. only outbound can ephemeral ports be used without restriction). Were you seeing that error in Enterprise Guide or was this in your Object Spawner log?

This error is in the SAS EG userlogs(workspace server logs) not in the objectspawner logs

An error in the workspace server log (presumably running on compute.dev.com) saying it can't connect to compute.dev.com with a connection timeout is strange, as I wouldn't expect anything to drop packets if they aren't leaving the host. You may want open a track with SAS Technical Support.
