We have a single license for SAS 9.4 M4 on a Win10 PC--no SAS server, just a local installation.

In the past, to upgrade, all we did was install the new maintenance release. (Maybe uninstalled the old one first.)

So what we have are a collection of SAS programs and some SAS dataset/format libraries that we want to continue to use.

Assuming we're not concerned about customization (things like colors in the program editor), is it sufficient to install M7 (possibly uninstalling M4 first)?

Thanks!

I would not expect a problem but if by "format libraries" you mean to use the existing catalogs either ensure you have the code to remake them or use Proc Format with the Cntlout option to make a data set that will allow you to recreate the formats without code.

Catalog entries are typically the things most likely to have any issue.

If you install over your existing installation you might even keep all your customization such as editor preferences and such. May. No promise but have had this work multiple times.

Thanks! I'll try it and post back, but it might take a while (weeks).
