You need to Know Your Playing Field (Maxim 15). Know the essential Linux commands, be able to write shell scripts, know where to get information pertinent to this. If you are in fact the server administrator, contemplate taking a course in Linux administration.

Know the syntax of SAS configuration files (as you may need to add options to the sasv9_usermods.cfg files in your configuration tree).

Make yourself familiar with the SAS Management Console, it will be your most important tool.

If users/groups are to be synchronized from a LDAP source, get to know that also.

If you connect to or get your data from DBMS systems, learn to work with their native clients, as you might need to check data directly there.

Your question is way too broad and unclear to be able to provide any useful answers.

In my experience, what SAS admins do depends on many factors including how your SAS infrastructure is architected, whether it is on premise or in the cloud, whether your company does all IT support in-house or it is provided by third-parties, and how your company's IT support responsibilities are split.

Unless you provide more details about this and describe what your project is doing I can't provide any useful advice.

Apologies for not providing details . I am new to SAS application and working as SAS admin is scary for me so far .

Alright , infrastructure is on premise. We use Linux servers .

Ideally we are suppose to do basic tasks like user group library creation along with services restart

But our responsibilities are also to check performance of the application, license renewal , etc

Hello @Analysts12 .

The first place to have a look for a new administrator are the following two resources
https://support.sas.com/edu/schedules.html?crs=SPAGS&ctry=US  (Self paced e learning is free)
https://support.sas.com/content/dam/SAS/support/en/books/sas-administration-from-the-ground-up/71228... .

The above book helps start with the very basics. Good to have a personal copy of this book.

Reading SAS documentation is a must.
Follow the above with this training
https://support.sas.com/edu/schedules.html?crs=SPAFT&ctry=US  . This is a paid course and ask your employer to sponsor it.

Once you are done with the above, you will have an understanding of what SAS Administrations is.
You will get an idea of what to learn. As you continue your journey as SAS Administration, the real learning starts.

(Particularly the mid-tier)

If you have prior knowledge of SAS programing / Linux Administration  that is  very helpful.

For those without a knowledge of SAS programming this course is a must do. Self paced e learning is free.
https://support.sas.com/edu/schedules.html?ctry=us&crs=PROG1 .
In addition this book https://www.sas.com/storefront/aux/en/splsb/73044_excerpt.pdf . good to have a personal copy.
