The SAS product release page and specifically the Software revision version or ship event has not been updated https://communities.sas.com/t5/SAS-Product-Release/bg-p/tsrelease for a while and there was an another SAS Note that is behind the times too https://support.sas.com/kb/50/493.html is there a newer page for M8 listings at least?
TIA
Hi @shoin
You are looking at the wrong/old pages!
You'll be better served looking at these pages
- Product Support A to Z | SAS Support
- SAS Help Center: What’s New in SAS® 9.4 and SAS® Viya® 3.5 -- As you navigate through this page, you'll find this SAS Help Center: January 2023 (SAS 9.4, Rev. 940_23w05)
Hope this helps,
Ahmed
Much thanks for your time & insight but even on this page the latest is January 2023 (SAS 9.4, Rev. 940_23w05), I have seen more later ship event sas depots.
@shoin - Jan 2023 was the release date of SAS9.4M8, the last substantial update to SAS 9.4. SAS depots shipped since then will contain more recent fixes and maintenance as part of the 5-year full support policy.
EDIT: Correction Jan 2024 was the release date.
Hi @shoin
SAS 9.4 M8 was released and made available on Jan 31, 2024 (https://blogs.sas.com/content/sgf/2023/01/31/sas94m8-announcement/), but there has several hotfixes released after that day, therefore you see later ship events in the SAS Depot!
To see which Hot Fix was released and when, you would need to go to this page: http://ftp.sas.com/techsup/download/hotfix/hotfix.html
The What's New page, gives you the official just released product bundle, but along the years, customers would request different software depot downloads, and it would be based on different build week, and the binaries would include some of the released hot fixes already. Which is exactly why the Hot Fix Analysis and Download Tool would always compare your existing Deployment Registry against the latest released Hot Fix list.
Hope this clarifies things for you,
Ahmed
