Hello all, looking for guidance how to setup connection to MS Synapse SQL DB (Azure AD) that has MFA.

SAS 9.4 TS1 M6 on WIN x64 2016 datacenter.

Pre-dominantly SAS ACCESS/OLE DB is used. We do have ACCESS/ODBC but 0% usage.

TIA

-S

Hi,

this is a good question.

The short version:

- You need to upgrade at least to SAS 9.4 M7 - I highly recommend to upgrade to M8 at least, or to migrate to SAS Viya, as M7 will be out of standard support soon.

- Starting M7, you can connect to Synapse from SAS 9.4, but single sign on is not possible: SAS SAS 9.4 does not have possibility to connect to Azure AD (EntraID)  with token, except with ADDS (extended Entra ID) which goes via LDAP. Only SAS Viya allows to fully use the integrations with Azure.
