Hi,

I have a Depot that is about 23 GB in size (it's a very full 9.3 suite). I'm looking to make a modified copy of it that only has Foundation services and perhaps a few other items in it. I'm trying to bring down the size to at least half of the original. (I need to create a system on a remote server to which my upload speed is very limited).

Can someone assist with a doc or procedure which explains the process?

Thanks!

I've taken a hardware approach to that problem (Our depot is currently 21 GB).  I haven't done it with a server, but I have done it with remote user's desktop machines.

  • Copy the entire depot to a 32 GB flash drive or portable USB disk.
  • Send the drive to the person who attends to the remote server physically and have them plug it in.
  • Remote in and install SAS.
  • Have them send the drive back.

It is not elegant, but it is quick and has proven effectiveness.
