We are running SAS9.4  BI on a Solaris 10 server with 3 tiers  Metadata Compute and Mid tier.   After starting the metadata tier, the compute tier is started.  The OLAP server doesn’t start because it cannot connect to the metadata tier.   There are no firewalls between the servers and port 8561 will accept telnet connections. Here is the error I find in the OLAP log.

2015-02-20T09:48:15,974 ERROR [00000008] :id - Unable to connect to the metadata server.

2015-02-20T09:48:15,975 ERROR [00000008] :id - No configuration information is available from the metadata server.

The server has been running for a few months and the problem has just recently started.   What can be going wrong and stopping OLAP from starting?

Thanks Carl Mathews

Hi,

Check <SAS-config>/Lev1/metadataConfig.xml to verify that host and port values are correct.

Do you have an OLAP Server defined in metadata?

Check the MetadataServer Log immediately after you tried to start the OLAP server.

This may show you if you have some kind of authentication problem.

Kurt,

Yes -  The MetadataServer Log shows that sastrust is locked. Thanks -Carl
