SAS would supply the plan file for a grid deployment, so if you can't use your existing plan file you will need to contact SAS to get one.
With a grid environment the SAS installation and configuration directories are typically shared among the grid nodes, so installation/configuration only needs to occur once for your compute tier. The middle tier done after compute, so you'd install/configure metadata, then compute, then mid-tier.
