Good morning all
I received a thumb drive from a co-worker at my new employer to download and install SAS 9.4. Unfortunately, there were no instructions on how to do it so I did it myself and find myself running into issues and the person that provided the drive is ill and unavailable. I go through the steps but once I get to the installation stage I get the error message:
"A problem was encountered while installing Microsoft Runtime Component 2015".
I ignored the error and tried to continue the installation and though it looks as if its still installing there is no movement on the progress bar and its been running well over 20 mins. Can anyone assist or give me any advice? I attached the 10 steps I used for the install for review.
Thanks in advance

Oh, nice, a Lassie error.
Do you have Administrator privileges on this computer? It might be necessary to start a cmd window as Administrator and run setup.exe from the commandline.
Do a google search for "A problem was encountered while installing Microsoft Runtime Component 2015"; if that does not result in a helpful clue, open a track with SAS technical support; the necessary information (site number) should be found in the license file.

Google is your friend (sometimes)

@Kurt_Bremser's comment about having Admin privileges may still apply though.

Hi Kurt
Thanks for this link. When I opened it the headline mentioned . That made me remember that the person who gave me the thumb drive sent this in an email :
"You also need to uninstall microsoft c++ latest version first, as SAS requires an older version and cannot install over the new one."
I had Microsoft Visual C++ 17 on my computer.
Thanks
