I am doing a plan three machine install of SAS9.4 BI  and after the server install I was working thru the Configuration Guidelines and Details and noticing an old machine name in the sid file ....can I change the name in the sid file to the correct name  and run some kind of fix with out having  to uninstall and reinstall again?

Get SAS to supply a new SID with the correct machine name. SID's have to be applied as supplied otherwise they will most likely fail. You wont need to re-install as the SID is independent of the install.
