Hi experts,

How can I prevent CAS users from any client (SAS Studio, Python, etc.) from creating new CASLIBs and force them to use only existing globally defined CASLIBs?

Thanks

Thanks @Patrick

Do you know if I disallow Authenticated Users from creating Session CASLIBs (which they are allowed by default) will that have a negative impact on SAS Visual Analytics app?

I do not want them to create any caslib when they use SAS Studio or Python (SWAT) client but do not want that to cause issues in SAS VA.

This is what I currently have set:

I don't know more than what's in the docu. Why don't you just try it out?

@EyalGonen - I would be very surprised if SAS VA on Viya used anything other than global CASLIBs, purely from a performance point of view. Data needs to be already loaded in memory to provide good VA report performance.

@SASKiwi That's mostly also my assumption. In regards of data being loaded: With more recent Viya versions one can define tables as to get loaded if requested but not already loaded. This removes all these challenges with "reload on restart" but avoids loading tables that don't really get used anymore. The first person requesting the data has of course to wait until the data is loaded - but that's imho much better than a report failing.

Unfortunately this functionality is only available for VA/VS - but I guess that's also where it's most relevant.
