@NacNick you are doing pretty much what we are about to start on. We are upgrading from SAS 9.4M2 on Windows Server 2012 R2 to SAS9.4M8 on Windows Server 2022 on new servers. This has to be a fresh install and our expectation is that both installations will continue to run in parallel while we migrate all our applications and test that we get the same results. Do NOT skip this step!

Hi we are currently in a process of migrating from legacy server running on Solaris and need to migrate to Linux server.

May you please assist how this is done for anyone who went through the same process, sharing challenges and lessons learned

Thank you

There are multiple approaches to handle this situation.
At the high level, a simple and easy to manage approach, which I would prefer, has the following three steps
1.Fresh install and configuration of SAS on Linux
2.Export the metadata content as packages from the source machine and import in the destination

3.Export data using Proc cport in the source and import using Proc cimport.

However, the devil is in the details. The exact approach would depend on your environment.
You can also use the migration utility.

@BrunoMagli67 - At the very least I hope you have explored the links already provided in this thread. I especially mention the SAS Content Assessment tool. You should run this on your existing installation if you haven't already to identify all SAS content to be migrated and identify potential issues.
