Hi!

Is it possibe to download a SAS 9.4 installation package without using the Download Manager?

It won't install at all on my desktop (neither in Firefox, Chrome nor IE), and on the AIX server I do not have a GUI, just commandline access.

And further on, can I install 9.4 without a GUI at all?

Nice questions. +1 for you 🙂

You can find the command line parameters on the documentation of the SAS Download Manager: http://support.sas.com/demosdownloads/000972/readme_111346.pdf

Also, please read this topic from Paul: https://platformadmin.com/blogs/paul/2015/07/sas-download-manager-in-console-mode/

Alternatively: I guess the download can be possible if you align with SAS Technical Support to have an ftp location for it. I required this once and they prepared an ftp location for me. I don't think it is common practice, and I don;t know if they will allow currently, but you lose nothing for asking.

About installing without GUI I suppose that if you have the correct responsefile (for creating the responsefile you need the GUI, but it can be generated outside), you can always install on quiet mode: http://support.sas.com/documentation/cdl/en/biig/69172/HTML/default/viewer.htm#n05023intelplatform00...

Funny. Using the link for the AIX Download Manager actually got me to saving the file, while the link for the Windows 64 version is stuck forever in "Connecting ...", until it simply ends up as failed in the list of downloads.

Could be that our firewall prevents downloading a .exe file, which seems reasonable to me in a corporate environment.

Oh, perfectly possible.

Or part of the configuration settings on your web browser.

I have got that one while working on an blue-chip insurance company. Which makes sense if you don;t want to run any external exe on your systems 🙂

On those scenarios, you can speak with your network team. They usually have some servers where you can execute these kinf of downloads, then make the Depot available to your SAS servers and clients.

Kurt, did you manage to execute the actions you required? How?
