I have two data file. one file has the list of 5534 companies and other file as the companies which of part of S&P CNX Nifty-50 Index. i have to create a dummy variable in file one which equals to '1' if the company belong to S&P CNX Nifty-50 Index or otherwise '0'. please suggest me a SAS code to create a dummy variable as discussed above. the following is the format of the two data files. thank you dear smantha for your valuable replay. i am getting the output with dummy variables. but the missing values in the dummy variable are not filled with zero. all the missing values are blank. I have to fill the missing values with zero. As there are large number of dummies, i cannot do it manual in SAS. please suggest a code which can create dummies with 1 and 0 values, not just '1'. thanks in advance

dear all i have to create dummy variables based on the nic_code of the companies. there are nearly 70 different nic_codes (which are not in serial order) for more than 5000 companies in my data set. dear Mr. xyz0505 thank you for your wonderful suggestion to use dummy variables for the industries groups to capture the fixed effects. As we know, we cannot introduce the dummy variables for all the groups of industries present in the sample, because it leads to dummy variable trap. here, i have two alternative ways 1. select one industry group as reference group and not introduce dummy variable to that reference group; or 2. introduce all the dummy variables, but not include constant in the model, can be please suggest me which alternative is better. thanks in advance.

dear all i have the panel data of nearly 2000 companies for 10 years. for each company, each company is multiple number of board of directors. the number is not same of all the companies. the status of director is either independent or non-independent. For some companies in the dataset, director status is missing. i want to delete all the companies which are having missing observation on director status for a concerned year. the same company may not be having any missing observations on director status in other years. so, year-wise, i have to delete the companies which are having such missing observations. the example of the dataset is as follows company_name director year director_status 20 Microns Ltd. Dear Mr.xyz0505 I want both industry and year fixed effects, but not company fixed effects. When I use proc panel, I am getting error, because, industry code is repeated for more than one company in the same year. It is becoming repeated measures panel data and I don't know how to handle it. Please help me in this regard.
