Hello,   I'm trying to create 4 equal groups(or close to equal - doesn't have to be exact) using the data below as an example. What I would like to accomplish is have the 4 groups have similar means (or sums) of all the variables. So basically I'm trying to minimize the mean, or sum, difference between the groups.   I'm trying to create a generic template also for the code, so there could be cases where there are 2,4, or other number of groups, and could also have more variables to average or sum, if you want to keep this in mind when thinking of the solution...I would like it to be as dynmaic as possible.   Any advice is appreciated! Hi,   I'm new to Hash and am trying to determine if my problem at hand would be a good one for it. In a nutshell, what I to do is make a selection for each account based on certain crieria...   1) each "account" must only have 1 record. 2) i want to add 1 to the vendor total every time a vendor is selected. 3) if a vendor is, or becomes, over the limit using the total from criteria 2, then i need to do a check to see if there is another vendor for the account and select the next vendor (under-limit) if there is, and if not, then select the current vendor.   If there is any easier non-hash way to do this as well I would be open to those responses as well..I've included the "have" and "want" datasets below. Overall, I'm trying to create multiple datasets using observations from 1 dataset. So let's say I have 20,000 observations in a dataset. What I'm looking to accomplish is to grab just the first 5000 observations and output that to a particular dataset. Then i want to grab the next 5000 from the original dataset and output that to another dataset. So dataset 'a' would have records 1 - 5000, and dataset 'b' would have 5001 - 10000. I'm sure there is some 1 step process to do this but I can't figure out a simple way. Any help is appreciated! I am trying to grab records from a data set that fit a particular criteria. The Output shown below contains the dates in which I am trying to compare to see if they are within a certain time frame from one another. What I am trying to do is to only output the records in which the date is > 30 days from previously output record (for each group). So in the case below, the final data set would only contain APP's 100,101,102,104,105. Also, the first record per group should always be in the final data set, and there could be 25 records in between 2 final dates so a simple lag or lag2 is out of the picture. Any suggestions?
