For a given set of 2000 IDs I want to assign random numbers in the range 100000- 102000. How should I code this. For example: Obs ID 1 1456 2 3765 3 35632 4 89564 . . . . . . 2000 580058 My output should look something like: Obs ID Random 1 1456 100000 2 3765 101997 3 35632 101456 4 89564 100002 . . . . . . 2000 580058 102000 In the above example, the number of observations in the dataset are 2000. The Random numbers are assigned such that they are in particular range i.e 100000-102000. Thanks for your help

Thanks Ksharp. This code works. If I wanted to assign random numbers in particular range how should I modify the code. Hello all, I am trying to assign random numbers to a given set of IDs. The reason for assinging random numbers to the IDs is to de-identify the information from the IDs. There should not be any relationship between the IDs and the Random numbers generated from them. For example: if I have a set of IDs as: IDs Random Numbers 1 5768 1 5768 2 2749 2 2749 2 2749 5 9574 5 9574 5 9574 The random numbers in the above tables are just the examples. These numbers can be any given number until and unless there is no relationship between the IDs and Random numbers. The only intention for decoding the IDs is to secure the information. Again, these random numbers cannot be used to lookback the IDs. Thank you

Hello Everyone, I have two datasets. One dataset is the subset of another dataset. I want to match both of the IDs . I want to find IDs from the subset dataset that wont match with the master dataset. Hello all, I had this situation where I need to exclude all the ID's with >1 sales type on the first sold date. My condition should be valid only for the first date for each unique ID. Any number of sales on same date other than first date should be taken into account. For example, in the below scenario there are multiple observations for each ID. I want to delete those ID's which had duplicate observations on the first date only. Id sales Date sold 1 car 1/1/2001 1 car 1/1/2001 1 truck 1/3/2001 2 motorcycle 1/5/2001 2 truck 1/8/2001 3 bike 1/4/2003 3 motorcycle 1/5/2003 3 truck 1/6/2003 3 bike 1/6/2003 The output should look like this: ID sales date 2 motorcycle 1/5/2001 2 truck 1/8/2001 3 bike 1/4/2003 3 motorcycle 1/5/2003 3 truck 1/6/2003 3 bike 1/6/2003 'ID-1' is deleted because it had more than 1 sales (same/different sales type) on the same date (first date). Though the 'ID-3' had more than 1 sales, its not deleted because the sales were not from the first date.

How do I assign a folder called myfiles to the permanent library sasuser. The folder myfiles is on my desktop and it contains datasets. I want the folder to be assigned in the permanent library sasuser. So everytime I open SAS, I see myfiles folder in the SASUSER library. I tried one way of doing it. But, I want the effiecient way of assigning the folder to SASUSER library. I did like this: libname x "path"; data sasuser.dataset1; set x.dataset1; run; I tried doing the below statement but did not work; libname sasuser.myfiles 'path';

Thanks reeza.The SAS dataset is on my local drive and not on a server. I tried searching this error on google and found that the SAS only supports 2G-1 observations. The link I found this information is below: http://support.sas.com/kb/36/112.html I dont know what to do to fix this problem. But I really need to get a variable list from this large dataset and do analysis on them.

Hello Reeza, Thanks for the reply. The SAS dataset (1.3TB) needs to be analyzed. So, working on the subset of the data might not help me. I wanted to check the number of variables inside the large dataset by running the CONTENTS procedure. As the dataset is large, there is an error showing that the 'File cannot be processed because its size is limited to 2G-1 observations on this host'. How do I fix this problem

I am trying to open a large data set which is in a format .sas7bdat (1.2TB), but I am getting this error. It says ' Could not open the data file: File is damaged. I/O processing did not complete. How do I fix this error

Hello Keshan, Thanks for the solution. The code is working for the dataset I provided. But when tried with a bigger dataset this is not working. I think if we create a separate variable which shows the difference between the dates of first.id and last.id would work. The rule is Difference between the first observation of first ID and the other observations of the first ID should not exceed 15 days.

Sorry for the confusion Ballardw. That was my mistake. The date is actually in dd/mm/yyyy format.The first step should give the oldest date (first date) for each ID. I used min instead of max. The next sept should find the dates which are within the 15days from the oldest date. Unfortunately, the second code you suggested does not give me the actual results I wanted. The output should satisty two conditions: 1. If there is only one date per each ID then keep in the output. (As in second and fourth ID) 2. If there are two or more dates per each ID the difference between the oldest date (i.e first date) and the other dates should not exceed 15 days. For clear understanding, the same dataset is formatted as below. Date ID Date diff Condition 1/2/13 1 0 satisfied 1/3/13 1 1 satified 1/25/13 1 23 not satified 4/25/14 2 0 satisfied 2/6/14 3 0 satified 2/8/14 3 2 satified 3/8/14 3 2 satified 5/7/13 4 0 satified 4/4/13 5 0 satified 4/4/13 5 0 satified 6/5/13 5 31 not satified 5/9/14 6 0 satified 8/16/14 6 97 not satified So, the dataset should output only the conditions which are satified. Hello Ballardw, Thanks for responding. The dates are in DDMMYYYY format. So for the first ID, its Jan 2,2013 and Jan 3,2013. My intention was to include all the IDs with single date values. So, I included ID 2 and ID 4 in the output.

Hello Everyone, I have a sample dataset shown below. Each ID has different dates. I want to choose the observations within 15day period from the oldest date for each ID. For the observations with only one date per ID should appear in the output. For example in the below dataset I have the dates sorted by ID and date. Date ID 1/2/2013 1 1/3/2013 1 1/25/2013 1 4/25/2014 2 2/6/2014 3 2/8/2014 3 3/8/2014 3 5/7/2013 4 4/4/2013 5 4/4/2013 5 6/5/2013 5 5/9/2014 6 8/16/2014 6 I need the output as shown below. 1/2/2013 1 1/3/2013 1 4/25/2014 2 2/6/2014 3 2/8/2014 3 5/7/2013 4 4/4/2013 5 4/4/2013 5 In the above output dataset, For the first ID, the third observation is eliminated as the date difference between the oldest date and the third observation date was above 15 days (i.e 23 day gap). For the sixth ID, the date difference was above 15days so both the observations got deleted. Second and Fourth ID were not changed as it had only one date per ID. Please guide me in coding this. Thank you in advance.
