Hi, I would like to save a value from the MEANS procedure to use in a further datastep. For example Proc means data=table1 mean ; var Sales ; run ; If the output was $200, I would like to save the value to use further along in my code, for example: Proc print data=table1 ; where Sales LE &Sales_Mean ; run ; Where Sales_Mean was generated from the proc means procedure. How did you make that work?? I don't think SAS recognizes the the colon for datasets.

Hi, I currently have a macro set up that 'profiles' my customers - %Profile(&Group) The macro runs through several datastep procedures and essentially creates a standard output data set named Profile_&Group. If I have 3 profiles to create I would run the macro 3 times for example: %Profile(HighValue) ; (output: Profile_HighValue) %Profile(MedValue) ; (output: Profile_MedValue) %Profile(LowValue) ; (output: Profile_LowValue) After the macro is complete I have a separate code I would run manually to merge the output datasets into a summary table: Data Profile_Summary ; Merge Profile_HighValue Profile_MedValue Profile_LowValue ; by ID; run ; Sometimes I would only have 2 groups (High,Med) or possibly 5+ groups to profile and merge to one single dataset. My question: What is the best way to incorporate my datastep to merge the profile tables together within the macro? Thanks for your help. KD

Reeza, any thoughts on how I can ensure that if the macro is run again, that the previous data is removed and only the latest data is appended to the master table?

I ended up using the Append approach, it was much simpler solution going forward. But i will have to include some controls to ensure if the macro that week's table does not append to the master twice if it's re-run for some reason. Thanks for all your help.

Thank you, i will look into this method, can the above code be modified to include a prefix of the tables rather than all the datasets in the library?

Hi, I have a macro that run's a 'report' on in the structure of: %macro Report(Weekname,LYwk,TYwk) ; which creates an output dataset named by the Weekname... An example of a few weeks of the above macro (I have about to run): %Report(Feb_wk02,201302,201402) ; (output dataset = Feb_wk01) %Report(Feb_wk04,201304,201404) ; (output dataset = Feb_wk04) What I would like to do is create a macro to stack all of these output datasets into one Master table. I know I can do it the manual method of : Data Master; Set (name of all the datasets) ; run ; But i'm wondering if there's a more automated method. Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, I was thinking of creating a blank template as a 'Master' table to append in the macro, and as I run each file import it will append to the master, but i'd have to be careful not to run the same file twice, or if there is an error in one of the file imports i'd probably have to rerun all of the imports again. Unfortunately the file names are not sequentially structured to use Name: or name1-name10;

Hi, I have a macro that imports data for example: %macro importdata(datafile) ; <IMPORT DATA PROCEDURES...> %Mend ; I have 10 files with the same structure I would then run the macro on. %importdata(file1) ; %importdata(file2) ; %importdata(file3) ; .... In the end I would like to Append the files together as part of the macro. Right now i am writing an additional datastep and manually scripting the dataset names from each macro output, i'm sure there is a better way. Thank you for the help. KD

Hi, I feel like i'm stuck on something so simple, and I just dont know why... I have 2 data sets FSALDU table A1A1A1 A1B1B1 ... 800,000 records Date table 2013-01-01 2013-02-01 .. (365 days) I would like to create a table that merges the two, where date is repeated across all FSALDU's FSALDU Date A1A1A1 2013-01-01 A1A1A1 2013-01-02 A1A1A1 2013-01-03 ... (800,000*365=292M records) Your help greatly appreciated, thanks in advance. KD

I'm not sure how I can assign a random sample for each group across the different Sources. Your help greatly appreciated, thank you.
