Hi I want to use mfile and mprint for debugging. This is the error message: ERROR: Insufficient authorization to access /sas/SAS_9.3/install/eg/Lev1/SASApp/external-file-for-SAS-statements. I understand that I need to give a specific path. Can anyone help to list a possible path? Thank you.

this worked very well if the numbers are from 1 to 8. what if the number list includes more numbers, such as two digit numbers? my actual number list will be 1,2,3, 4, 5, 6, 12,13,22,23; would you please let me know how to modify your code? Thank you

I think I need to make it more efficiently by replacing these numbers with do loop or sas macro. They are just numbers from 1 to 8. When I ran it, it did not generates those datasets I need. Any advice? Thank you.

I need to modify a program; originally, it is a very simple data step. Data want; Set old; Where rownum=3; Run; Now I need to add some new rules because of different ways of calculating the score, instead of just pick up the score on the third row before. I cannot pick the third row (one size does not fit all!). The rules are listed as follows 1. If id in (‘4’,’5’,’110’,’119,’1000’) then score=sum1/sum2; 2. If id in (‘34’,’12’,’245’,’beaa’,’geee2’) then score= sum(aver)/sumrownum: 3. If id in (‘rt’, ‘t32’,’g45’,’2’,’578’) then score = score where appears on the first row, that is rownum=1 4. If id in (‘a2’,’c34’) then score=score where appears on the second row, that is rownum=2; …. So I am thinking of doing this in a datastep, it would be easy for the first two steps, but for the last two, it seems that I need use “where…” and I do not know how to do. Or do I have to set up a subdataset? That will be time consuming Can anybody show me how to do? Thanks.

I have saw many questions similar but after read those posts I still need to ask. My question: there is a variable has around 100 values, from 8, 9, 111, 23, 456,457, ab1, ac2, abc9, d388, q34, s789, etc I want to sort it to a way that I feel comfortable with, that is, it should sfirst start with, 8, then 9, then 23... then ab1, ac2, then d388... the rule would be: if all are numbers, the order should be from small to big, that is, 8 should be listed before 111; those with letters will be after the numbers, and in the order with alphabit order, that is, after these numbers, ab1 should be first, but even I sort it, it still lists 111 before 8. I then realize it might be because sas considers 1 is small then 8. I thought I could add leading zero, I do not know how to do this becasue it is a mixture of numeric and alpha. Thank you in advance for your advice and time!

Thank you. We are almost there, and then I realized that was my mistake. from 233 to 459, the list does not include all these numbers. see, it is 233, 234,235,236,237,238; and then, it is 333, 334, 335, 336; and then, it is 450, 4511,452,453,...459; should I include three loops instead of one? Sorry I had not made it clear enough for my original post.
