Hi Forum, I've been creating some custom graphs & want to enhance them further. I've seen some great graphs that use SGPLOT code to change the properties etc. What I haven't found is where in VA I should add that code so it can make those changes to the graph? Can anyone help here? Thanks

Thanks RM6, I wasn't aware that I needed a DD to find this out. So is the purpose of these numbers for SAS to know when to add a new record (Row) using the values after the 'Datalines' statement?

Thanks RM6, I think I get it but wouldn't this mean you would need to know the minimum & maximum length of the fields in order to write the correct range? Is this used for alignment of data when presented? I'm not getting why it's required/used? Thanks

Hi Forum, Sorry I know the Subject isn't very clear but it's the best I can do. I've seen these numbers from 'x' to 'y', but haven't seen a clear explanation of what they are for? I got this code from the Step-by-Step Programming with Base SAS® Software guide. data club2; input #2 Team $ 1-6 #1 Name $ 6-23 IdNumber 1-4 #3 StartWeight 1-3 EndWeight 5-7; datalines; 1023 David Shaw red 189 165 1049 Amelia Serrano yellow 145 124 ; Can someone tell me what do the '1-6', '6-23' etc numbers mean & what function do they perform? Hi, I'm using SAS EG 7.1 & creating Projects as usual. I've found that I'm losing a lot of work due to Projects freezing or crashing which means I need to close down using CTRL AL DELETE & I can only recover my work at the last point I saved the Project. Is there some code I can add somewhere so the Project saves every 5 minutes or so? I usually remember but sometimes when I'm trying to concentrate on logic, I overlook saving & this is getting annoying. Hope someone has a solution because they've had the same problem & can help me out. : )

Hi Forum, I need to see where a directory path is stored as a variable. I have inherited an EG Project that uses a variable to define part of a directory path. The path is used to save files & retrieve to attach to emails. Problem is I cannot find where the variable has been set.. There's no %Let or Symput statement or anything stored under Tools >> Options >> SAS Programs. Where else can a variable be setup in EG (7.1) for use in a Program? I've contacted my support & they advised it is coded on my side (in the Project somewhere) Thanks for your help.

Thanks Patrick, That's very useful, have you seen an example of a variable being used to replace part of a directory path? I also want to understand where this info is located. Normally there would be a %let Statement to pass the string value of the variable but this '&tmp' value must be stored somewhere else. I want to follow how to export the EG Project results to the Server File Folder for later retrieval & emailing. Thanks again.

Hi Forum, The title is the best description I could think of so I'll describe the issue. Before my time, someone had created a clever method of exporting the results of an EG project to a files server location. In the code there is a line such as; &tmp\reports\oct17\report_results; The &tmp part is setup somewhere to represent the first part of the UNC path & the rest is the path to the Files folder on the Server. After the files are stored there, the code then retrieves it to attach to an email. I haven't seen this setup before & no-one who created it is left to explain it. Can someone help me understand how this works or point me towards some articles books? Thanks
