Thank for your answer Padraic. The reason I asked is because I never came across (in my non-exhaustive search) work where the sampling was not performed straight on the raw imported full data-set. Nicolas

Hi there I may have what sounds like a stupid question but in SEMMA methodology, why sampling is first? In other words, if I first manipulate my large data (imputing missing values/binning interval data etc...) and then after perform a sampling on this data to create my model is that complete non-sense? Thanks for your answer. What do you mean by cannot 'productionize it'. At the moment, I create my data base from various DWs with EG, create the model with EM, and use the core back in EG. The reason I use EM is because 1. I run several methods in parallel 2. my data is somehow dirt and a lot of manual intervention is required prior to run the different methods. Knowing that, is it possible to launch EM with batch, run the diagram I will have previously set-up, close EM once last node is ran. Many thanks Nicolas

Hi I would like to know whether there is the possibility to run SAS EM from a batch file in Windows. In the long term I'd like to have this batch file running my EM diagram at regular intervals of time so that I just go in the Score folder to get the score sas file. I am not intending, for now, to pass any arguments to SAS EM with my batch file, just launch it, close it, and run my diagram. Many thanks Nicolas

Hi there I have been using SAS Miner for a while, using a Sampling Node right after my Input Node to perform under-sampling (for now). Follow from this Sampling Node my Data Partition Node and some Transform Variable / Impute Nodes. I have a few questions: 1. what would be the effect of performing the sampling after having worked on the variables, e.g having the Sampling Node after the Impute Node. 2. If I do as in 1, I believe the Data Partition Node shall as well be moved accordingly not to have the Data Partition ode right after the Input Node and perform the partition on the unbalanced data? Hi there I am willing to try the SMOTE method and use the code available online. I am wondering about the effects of having missing values in the dataset on which to run the code. I would guess it is best to deal with those missing values and run the SOTE code after, am I correct? Thanks Nicolas

Hi there I am trying to use the Ensemble Node in in SAS EM and I get the error mesage that the Ensemble Node is expecting a Name. I join a screenshot of my diagram as I am not sure what it means. Thanks for your help. Nicolas

Thanks Wendy for your answer. As far as I understood, these deciles (in case of score 1-10) are based on the validation data and the model keeps them as such. e.g when applying on a test database, they are not re-calculated as decile of the predicted target from the test data. I am afraid that this is quite dependent on the validation database, itself being a random selection of a larger database. Do you think this would make sense re-defining them as per the predicted target on each application? Thanks

Thanks for your answer Wendy. Any of the models I use create these segments, whether they are decision trees or not. The number of segments (10, 20 etc...) are chosen (by me) in my model comparison node in SAS miner. I am still wondering what they mean with regards to my interval target (or predicted one), how are they formed precisely? Thanks - Nicolas

Hi there I created several scoring codes with sas miner that I am using on new datasets under sas guide. My target is interval (named amount). When I run the code(s), it creates several outputs (on top of the transformed variables IMP LOG etc...) such as P_amount, em_prediction, em_segment. P_amount and em_prediction seem to be the same, and correspond to the predicted value of amount for my new dataset. How is em_segment created and how does it relate to my predicted target value? Hi Reeza Thanks for your reply. If I unerstand corrctly, SAS EM will automaticaly create dummy indicators to handle categorical varibles. If so why using the Tansform Variable Node to create dummy indicators? Isn't it redundant? Thanks Nicolas
