Using the code below to produce an html file to be read by excel. An example of the output I'm trying to create is in the attached capture.png. The code below produces the column backgrounds, but I would also like to have row group backgrounds. How is that accomplished? Rick, would a box and whisker plot do the trick? X axis would be the Mother weight groups and y axis the child weights. Would clearly show the child weight distribution (a statistician would like that!), sample size could be reflected by box width and/or block variable annotation (my preference).

Thanks Rick for pointing out my error. Having said that, I have seen bubble size proportional to radius - obviously made by deficient software! Beyond that though, even with the technically correct example you have provided, it's difficult to understand that the "8" bubble is 4x larger than the "2" bubble. Area just doesn't work. Lengths are much easier to compare.

A philosophical answer rather than a coding answer ... Bubble charts have at least two inherent design deficiencies. 1 Bubble charts attempt to express three dimensions on a two dimensional plane. 2 Bubble size is related to area. A doubling of the "plotted" value results in a 4x increase in area - quite misleading. Given that area ranks in 5th place on Cleveland's Features Hierarchy, one should look for a way to move up in the features hierarchy. A combination of smaller bar and line charts will result in a more easily understood graphic. This can usually be done in the same amount of space or less. wd

As we move to more and more global applications, the OP request may need to take second place to a format that can't be confused. You are correct about the big issue - although it's not a problem for batch processing, which is what I had in mind.

How about SUBJECT = "Report for &sysdate"? Needs no other code, and avoids the problem of MMDDYY and DDMMYY confusion for situations when both MM and DD are <= 12 - the first 12 days of every month. Bill

Note: To use output from the GKPI procedure in a dashboard generated with the GREPLAY procedure, you must first create a GRSEG containing the GKPI procedure output. You can use the IBACK=”gkpiImage.png” option in the GOPTIONS statement with the GSLIDE or GANNO procedures to generate the GRSEG. in 9.3?

Dan, I have no experience with proc document. Ultimately I'm looking for "proc greplay" flexibility. What about this (from SAS/GRAPH(R) 9.4: Reference, Second Edition)? It does put both charts on the same page, so it's a possibility for a report. I'd prefer the flexibility of something akin to proc greplay. Thanks though!

The attached code more or less does what I'm looking for except for the fact that I'd like to have both graphs on one page. Is there a way to put the graphs into a catalog so that I can then replay them with proc greplay? Or is this done some other way for the GKPI procedure? Thank you, Bill

Thank you Pronabesh and Robert. Your responses are indeed correct. I was hoping for something a little more generic so that I could avoid some macro programming - this situation uses a by statement within gplot where the y axis levels vary in number (2 to N). I'll have to write some code to create a &max in place of "2" in the example.

I'm producing the graph below with this (pared down) code: axis1 minor=none label=none; axis2 minr-none major=none label=none; proc gplot; format n2 lbl.; plot n2*col1/haxis=axis1 vaxis=axis2 href=74.6; run; When there are more than 2 values on the y axis, only the formatted values appear. With 2 values (e.g. 1 and 2), the values in between also appear as shown. How do I stop the 1.1 to 1.9 values from showing up on the y axis? Thanks, Bill
