I need to auto-populate a specific date for the current month my SAS program runs. I am assigning a variable called "StartDate" a date value which needs to be the 9th of the month that the program is run. So for example for this month, every row needs a value of "09/09/2021". For next month, I need the program to autopopulate to "10/09/2021" and so on.

Are 'Group TIN'n and 'TIN'n character variables? - They were not but I did just change it so now yes, they are both character variables. Is there a duplicate key obs that is not in the test data? If so, how do you want to handle it? - There could be duplicates. If there are duplicates, they should have the same value for 'Group TIN'n meaning that it can either be overwritten with the duplicate value or ignored. I have two datasets: File01 and File06. File06 has a variable called 'Group TIN'n that I want to use to populate a variable called 'TIN' in File01 but ONLY if a variable called 'Client Defined Provider ID'n or 'Client Defined Address ID'n matches from both datasets. How can I write this in SAS? Is a datastep or PROC SQL better in this case?

A colleague of mine does not uses SAS but uses R and SQL Server Management Studio. I need to collaborate with him to write SQL code but we were wondering if there was a way to import .SQL code (queries) into a SAS program and have them run within SAS. I couldn't find anything online but it seems like the only option is to copy and paste each SQL file separately into a SAS Program. Is there a better way to do this so SAS can run and write to a .SQL file?

I have a dataset with one variable that contains name information along with suffixes and titles. There are also commas and slashes and there are also blanks. Roberts Tracy Sawada Faith Mr. George Newton Angie Bugaran Chris Henry Yim/Kelly Tuamoheloa Ms. Merilyn Harris Faith Gerald McKenna, M.D. Mr. Herbert Yim Mr. Ira Walton Ms. Orianna Skomoroch How can I take that column and convert it into two where it's split out by First Name and Last Name with the titles (Mr., Mrs., Ms., Dr.) and suffixes (M.D., FCAP) excluded?

I imported an excel datasheet using proc import and one of the date columns came in as a character variable with numbers populated. Is there anyway to modify the proc import so that the date data comes in as it should? MM/DD/YYYY? I know this is happening because some values are stored as year only and some are blank.

I have a dataset that I brought in using PROC IMPORT that I called SOWED. It was 9 variables in that dataset and I want to use those 9 variables to create 70 other variables in a new dataset that I'm calling SOWED1. However, I want the 70 variables to each have a length of 100 (character) and want two of the variables to have a date format. So in short: I want to create a new dataset using the old dataset but want to have a lengths and formats specified. The problem is nothing happens when I run the data step. Nothing in the log and nothing in my output. This seems to happen because of my length and format statements because when I take them out, the data step runs and I get a log and output. What am I doing wrong? data sowed1; format graduation_year year4. university_thru_date mmddyy10.; length newvar1 newvar2 newvar3 ... newvar70 $ 100; set SOWED; run;

I merged the datasets together using a data step merge. Why is it trivial to add that variable in using a IN option? Sorry, I'm new.

I have four original datasets: Dataset A, B, C, D I also have a final dataset that combines various elements from those four that I'll call FinalDataset. There is a variable in all four original datasets and my FinalDataset that is called NPI. I want to write to a new variable in my FinalDataset called "NPIfound" if the NPI value in the FinalDataset is also found in one of the original datasets. In other words, If datasetA.NPI = finaldataset.NPI, then output the value "datasetA" to NPIfound. If that same NPI value is also found in datasetB then I want it to add to NPIfound so that it says "datasetA, datasetB" in the FinalDataset.

The solution wasn't exactly this but it led me on the right track: I replaced the word "NULL" from the excel spreadsheet and reran the SAS program. My date fields were then imported properly.

I have an excel spreadsheet (.xlsx) that has a few fields that are supposed to be dates. Most cells are in a MM/DD/YYYY format but there are other cells that have the word "NULL". When I do a PROC IMPORT, all of the fields come in as character variables and all of the date values are turned into random numbers like 34563. How can I import these date values as the values that they are using PROC IMPORT? Guessingrows doesn't work.
