How can I display the formatted value of a dynamic prompt in a text object of a report. For example, the Spring 2010 term field has an unformatted value of 201001 and a formatted value of Spring 2010. When I insert the dynamic prompt value, and the user has selected Spring 2010 (displays correctly in the prompt selection box), the title of the report displays 201001. Is there any way to make the text object use formatted values of the prompt selections?

Text objects display unformatted filter values. This note describes the problem and the available workarounds. http://support.sas.com/kb/30/746.html

One workaround that is not documented is to create a group break on the filtered catgegory. The group break label should show the formatted values.

Thank you so much for your suggestions. The undocumented workaround is not feasible as we can only display a single term with this type of data so that is why we prompt the user to select a term.

I also tried the methods in the referenced problem note and was not successful. The first option is great for other fields but not for the term identifier. We need to have the term sorted with latest term first, so if we use the formatted value then all the Fall terms are together, all the Spring terms, etc. Thus, the field needs to remain in its original value with the format applied. The second method didn't work at all.

Will a future version of WRS show the formatted value for a dynamic prompt in a text object?
