Renaming fields/columns in VA (EGRC)

Hi there, I am looking for a way to rename columns/fields in a data mart after uploading data from EGRC to VA data marts, which come with EGRC.

As far as I understand, it is possible to do through coding: to rename during uploading data to EGRC with

1. DATA step

2. SQL step 

3. Editing customMessages_xx.properties

If not, please correct me.

However, I need to do that in VA, not in EGRC. 

Is there a similar variant to editing any properties file (that would be preferable)?

If not how else can I compete the task?

I need to rename some default names like "EVENT_LASR" (LASR data mart)
