I'm realizing that I'm a little fuzzy on the distinction between SAS Visual Analytics and the SAS LASR server. Up to this point, I've somewhat referred to them both as the same product, but after diving deeper I'm realizing they are not. From what I've read so far it seems as though the LASR server is just a component of Visual Analytics, and you could have a LASR server without having VA. I was wondering if anyone could shed some more light on this topic or correct my assumptions if they are wrong?
"LASR server is just a component of Visual Analytics, and you could have a LASR server without having VA" - while it would be technically possible to have a LASR server without having VA, my understanding is SAS's Visual Analytics product based on SAS 9.x always includes the LASR server component and it is not bundled with any other SAS products.
This situation is different with Visual Analytics based on SAS Viya however. Here the equivalent of the LASR server is the CAS server, and SAS Viya including the CAS server doesn't necessarily include Visual Analytics.

No problem. Learning is a two-way street - I learn just as much from providing answers as you do from reading the answers!
