Queenslanders On The Move - Monitoring the states road traffic with SAS Visual Analytics

A SAS Visual Analytics report showing ten years worth of historic hourly traffic volume on state-owned roads in Queensland, Australia. The report uses a geographic map with major roads rendered as polylines overlaid with pie charts for each traffic monitor site. Each site monitors traffic volume every hour in both directions of traffic. A selection in the geo map also triggers interaction filters in the other charts allowing a more granular analysis of historic and predictive traffic volumes.

Oh you've piqued my interest to see a non-static report!

I'm sure there has been significant changes over the past ten years in the Brisbane Region and just imagine what it will be like in the next ten years in the lead up to the Brisbane Olympic.

I know. I should really investigate options to support live reports or at least a Visual Analytics SDK version - to allow viewers to interact with report/data. Will chat with our community support folks and see what options there are. But catching up in person also sounds like a plan 🙂

Yes, very interesting data indeed. I actually wanted to see the impact on things like daily commute etc. with comparison before/during/after the pandemic. Many organizations - even today - have more flexible hybrid models still in place - likely reducing the number of people travelling during the day or at least shifting peak travel times. I'm still analyzing some of that data and may create a separate report just for that.

But yes - didn't even think about the potential growth of regions such as South East Queensland given large scale events such as Olympic Games. Feels like a report I should update regularly... 😉

Oooohhhhh a Visual Analytics SDK version would be great. It will allow the community to delve into the data in your MANY reports, learn from your designs and interactivity, stimulate ideas and no doubt encourage conversations. Keen to hear what unfolds.
