If you have SAS/ACCESS Interface to PC Files, then you can use the IMPORT procedure to import Microsoft Excel files in the Windows and UNIX operating environments.

How do you use SAS?

  • complete local SAS installation, either through Enterprise Guide or Display Manager
  • server-based SAS, with Enterprise Guide (and a connection profile) or SAS Studio
  • University Edition
  • On Demand for Academics

Note that only the first method will have access to your C: drive; UE will need the file to be stored in the shared folder, and On Demand and client/server need you to copy the file to the server first.

Finally , I find the reason. Because the xls file which is 32 bit is not compatible with SAS which is 64 bit .
