Is there a way to output the "Total" row in proc freq into a dataset?

proc freq data=&out order=data; 				 
tables  codec*result   /out=freqall_&out  ;
run;

ods output CrossTabFreqs=want;
proc freq data=sashelp.class order=data;
tables sex*age ;
run;

Do you want just the column totals?   That's all that you marked.

 

What about the row totals and the grand total?

The hash OUTPUT method will overwrite a SAS data set, but not append. That can be costly. Consider voting for Add a HASH object method which would append a hash object to an existing SAS data set

Would enabling PROC SORT to simultaneously output multiple datasets be useful? Then vote for
Allow PROC SORT to output multiple datasets
