Convert wide to long format using arrays

I do not have a syntax to do this, I am not limiting number of steps. we might need a loop may be somehow using N-1 and by id. However, I couldn't do it.

So you are imposing a condition that any solution must contain a loop? And the solution that I gave, which does not contain a loop, does not work for you?

As far as I can see, the solution I gave meets the desired output requirements. Are you saying there is something wrong with my solution (other than it does not contain a loop)?
