Hi,
I really need your help guys!

there is a char variable with "broken bar "(|) delimited string.
I need to count how many (|) in the string.

Please give your expertise!

data _null_;
	a = 'a|b|c|';
	b = count(a,"|");
	put a= b=;
run;
/* LOG - a=a|b|c| b=3 */


*If delimited by (|)    ;
data _null_;
	a = 'a(|)b(|)c(|)';
	b = count(a,"(|)");
	put a= b=;
run;

Yes, it is for counting occurrences.
