With all these changes around SAS needs to be innovated in order to stay competitive with this market and make SAS Viya more competitive tool with the other firms by producing Excel report with Jobs Flows and scheduling jobs that has dependance.

It would be a great idea and invention, if you ask your engineer to add this functionality PROC DOWNLOAD Statement into SAS VIYA, that will allow Developer to send excel files directly into windows share drive, in addition to sending file into Unix. 😊

Status changed to: Suggestion Under Review

Thank you for your suggestion, @gm7 . We appreciate your input and are currently reviewing it. To better understand your request, I have a few follow-up questions:

Currently, PROC DOWNLOAD is supported within SAS/CONNECT in SAS Viya. This means you can transfer data from a server (remote SAS session) in SAS Viya to a client (local SAS session) using PROC DOWNLOAD. Therefore, accessing and writing to Windows shared drives from the local SAS session should be possible, provided that network access and permissions are properly configured.

Could you please clarify if you are requesting to extend this functionality beyond SAS/CONNECT? Specifically, are you asking for PROC DOWNLOAD to be usable within other SAS Viya components such as SAS Studio, Job Flows, etc., so that its usage is not limited to SAS/CONNECT?

Thank you for helping us understand your needs better!
