i have a date in my data which is only day and month (eg. 25/03)
when doing an infile, it imports as a text value.
i am trying to add a year to this value, but with no joy.
i am trying to use the following:

data may_3010;
set may_3010;
format year $4.;
format newdate date9.;
year= '2010';
newdate= input(Prom_D_1||year,mmddyy10.);
run;

You need to add a / between your text-date and the year and you should use the informat ddmmyy10.:
[pre]data work.may_3010;
set work.may_3010;
length newdate 8;
format newdate date9.;

newdate = input(cats(Prom_D_1, '/2010'), ddmmyy10.);
run;[/pre]
