In a SAS dataset, I used "datetime." to format a field. And the field was Numeric. Then I exported that dataset to Excel 2003, the format of that field looked the same as what it was in SAS. However, that column in Excel was unchangeable. Looks like the attribute was changed to String, not Date after exporting. I need to continue to work on that column in Excel, but now I can't. Please help!
You did not say how you were exporting the data to Excel (e.g. Export wizard, proc export, or ODS tagsets.execlxp). However, if you read pages 10 and 11 of the paper below, it will explain a work-around for the tagsets.excelxp approach. If you are using a different method, it will give you hint of what the issues are:
