SAS recently relaunched its developer portal (developer.sas.com), presenting SAS Viya API documentation. We scoured SAS digital resources and have identified almost 400 developer- and API-related use cases. If you're an open source developer, we've got assets to help get you started and interface with SAS Viya. SAS programmers, you're covered as well. Further, we provide a section for SAS solutions and related technologies and a page for SDKs. Finally, we have links to the Developers Community and the sassoftware resources on GitHub. It's truly one-stop shopping. Learn how SAS implemented best practices for a good developer portal and see a demo on using SAS Viya APIs to build an end-to-end use case.

From a scrappy, under-resourced portal in 2018 to a full-fledged, modern platform, this talk traces how SAS transformed its developer experience into something far more powerful—and scalable. Joe Furbee pulls back the curtain on the evolution of the SAS Developer Portal, revealing how standardized APIs, automation, and a growing cross-functional team turned a “checkbox project” into a strategic asset. Along the way, he showcases real-world workflows, integrations with open source tools, and a live end-to-end demo that brings the platform to life. If you’re curious how developer ecosystems are built—and where AI-powered portals are headed next—you’ll want to see this.
