Please describe your data for us and define crude rate.

Thnks for getting back to me.

This is the table for the 1 visit to a Primary Care Provider. I already identified the 1 visit PCP.

BENE_ID = patients id

CLM_ID = claims

CLM_DT_FR= claims date from

CLM_DATE_TR= claims date through

I need to find out what is the crude rate between BENE_ID and CLM_DT_FR. I am not able to write a appropriate PROC SQL code to find out the crude rate.

"Those" what? I suspect something like "those patients" or "those clients". Then we would need to know which of your variables identifies your patient or client or which ever the "those" refers to.

Next, how do we tell from the example data that the patient/client has a visit to a "Primary Care Provider"?

And likely for a rate we also have to have the patients/clients that did not have a visit to a primary care provider. Is that in this data?

And lastly, is there a time frame involved such as a specific calendar year or quarter or within  a specific range of dates? And if so, which of the date variables shown would be used to determine the dates?

What should the expected value be from the data you've shown?

Can you show us the calculation in Excel and/or explain the logic in detail?

People are clearly willing to help, so please spend some time detailing the process so we can help you out.
