Hi There,
Someone asked me about SAS administration related presentations at the upcoming SAS Global Forum and when I went to the Session Catalog I noticed in the Job Role filter list there is no SAS Administration job role listed. (Cue dun dun duuuuun music...)
I saw for SAS administration/architecture/deployment type papers there are tags at the bottom of the abstract outline with Administration:xxxxx yet the tags are not hyperlinked to see the associated papers. You can search for administration which is helpful but it would be good to have:
Do others agree? Are there any other roles or session catalog feedback you have?
Kind Regards,
Michelle
Really? Are Administrators suddenly obsolete in the new age of SAS Viya?!? (I doubt it.. I mean there's no Metadata Server any more, but there still needs to be someone to keep it all running..)
Yes, Admin is a must-have.
We are re-branding ourselves as "Platform Scientists"...
Hello @MichelleHomes,
Indeed, I fully agree with you, Michelle, I could only get the exported sessions in an Excel file and search over there with a bit of logic.
It would be really nice to have something to search. I also think that it would be nice to have sub-topics/sub-tags under administration, since the number of sessions for SASAdmins is healthily increasing. 🙂
Kind regards,
Juan
Thanks for all your comments.
@JuanS_OCS, there is a search capability, so you can search for “administration” as http://www.sasgfsessioncatalog.com/#/search/Administration but I think it would be helpful to have a Job Type filter as well as a way to use the tags.
Kind Regards,
Michelle
If you download the entire catalog as a spreadsheet (you can do that! Link on the right side of the catalog page), you can see the reason for this: it's a data problem.
Each paper in the catalog has only one job role, and one primary product listed. "admin" topics are categorized into App Developer or Business Analyst -- or perhaps other roles, depending on how the paper author proposed these.
But you can use Primary Product as a proxy for the admin role: SAS Metadata Server, SAS Management Console, SAS Grid Manager -- these are all listed.
Still -- great feedback and maybe @gmbaker can respond with more info or another idea.
FYI: If you set the filter to Topic you and select a variety of Administration topics.
Thanks @ChrisHemedinger - I saw in the diwnloable file there wasn’t an Administration job role and the functionality is limited due to the data. (The usual story of an analysts life, right?)
Thanks @DavidPope! The Topic filter seems to use the tags and is an easier way to find the Administratioj content. Thanks for pointing this out.
Cheers,
Michelle
As it so happens, there is a SAS Program to grab all the Administration topics....
Your Welcome 🙂
#FridayFun @foobarbaz?
Nice work Cameron!
Thanks,
Michelle
Hi.
Maybe something for future but it would nice to have a filter to identify when session has been added. It takes a while to compile a list of interest and I don't want to miss an interesting session if it should be added later 🙂
