Smarter Access to Open Data: Duck DB Integration with SAS

Lume EnahoroCustomer Advisory Technology Northern Europe

Modern analytics teams rely heavily on open data formats like Parquet, JSON, and Delta Lake but accessing them efficiently at scale has been a long‑standing challenge. In this session, we introduce SAS/ACCESS Interface to DuckDB, a high‑performance, in‑process query engine now embedded directly in SAS Viya. Participants will learn how SAS uses DuckDB to deliver faster ingestion, lower storage costs, seamless access to open formats, and improved interoperability with Python and other ecosystems. We’ll demonstrate how SAS Viya can query open data where it lives, avoid heavy ETL, and unlock new workflows for multi‑file datasets, JSON processing, and cost‑optimized storage. If you want a future‑proof, open, and lightning‑fast approach to data access, this session is for you.
