Designed to combine their favorite team sport with our vast data analysis experience, the Batting Lab was created for children to improve their batting performance while gaining an understanding of the importance of data. SAS worked with North Carolina State University's softball and baseball teams to collect data on the key moments of an elite player's swing. We then used those data points and employed our cutting-edge analytics to analyze, model and understand the dynamics of an optimal swing. Once the optimal phases of a swing were identified, the model was used to score the batting skills of aspiring players in real time. The Batting Lab helps children gain the confidence they need to succeed with a triple play of batting, analytics and data literacy. We invite you to come explore the power of the SAS Batting Lab.
