Istanbul has one of the world's largest and oldest public transportation systems. The priority of the IETT, a subsidiary of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, is to keep the existing bus operations running with fewer vehicles despite the increasing demand. This project aims to find the most efficient driver/bus/service assignments to minimize running costs. The project created savings of 2.9 million Turkish liras for Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in two pilot bus garages.
