What if you could develop a SAS language function and immediately run it anywhere in the cloud or on your local site even without access to a SAS Viya installation? What if you could integrate that function into any standard web service application or framework? What if your IT staff could use industry-standard, open source tools to manage the deployment process? What if you could reduce the size of your production runtime environment? The solution is here. SAS Container Runtime (SCR) is a new SAS language execution option for SAS Viya 4. An SCR is a standard docker container that includes all the program files and executable files needed to run SAS and Python code. Each new SCR image is produced by using SAS Viya software. This image is entirely self-contained, immutable and will run the same on any Open Container Initiative (OCI) system. This breakout session will show users and developers how to develop, test and integrate SCR images into their runtime applications. We will show applications using SAS and Python code running within the container. The result is a game changer for SAS applications.
