Natural disasters cause more than 15,000 deaths annually and amount to over $170 billion globally. With high unpredictability and potential for massive destruction, it becomes challenging for governments and organizations to allocate resources effectively, optimize funding distribution, and place preventative measures in advance. We need a way to identify these vulnerable regions, forecast disaster risk ahead of time and make informed decisions about where to allocate resources and funding so we can be better prepared when a disaster occurs. This is where Disaster Response Ai (DRAi) comes in. DRAi is built using SAS Viya and aims to advise governments, insurance agencies and organizations about these vulnerable regions across the country for optimized allocation of resources and funding, insurance modelling and effective disaster response planning. DRAi features an array of tools, including a national vulnerability map, disaster prediction engine and community resilience rating.
