It seems that a window is pinned -- stuck in place -- when the pin is in the vertical position. Clicking the pin so it becomes horizontal allows the window to minimize with a tab showing. That seems to me to be unpinning the window. EG Help says that minimizing is pinning.

Would someone please confirm that EG Help is correct? Thanks.

I agree with you - the help documentation appears to be back-to-front! If the pin is vertical, then a window is stuck(pinned) in place, and clicking it to make it horizontal allows it to minimise(unpinned) and reduce itself to a tab on the side.

Can I suggest the opposite?

When the window is pinned, you can open/close it, but not move it. When the window is unpinned, you can drag it anywhere within the EG desktop and it stays open.

Thanks. I see what you're saying. But I see the icons as saying something different. In Windows XP style, the vertical pin is replaced by a pin that is seen above and to the side. The idea is that the point is pressed into something. When I pin a paper to a cork board, the pin gets pressed through the paper into the board. And it stays where it's pinned. If I would describe that as "unpinning" the paper, well, ....

I'm normally reluctant to use Microsoft applications as standards, but EG and MS VB.Net 2003 have exactly the same 'pin' functionality!

Could it be the that the horizontal pin is stuck in a wall, and the vertical pin is not?
