Oh, one more option is to switch from a long data set to a wide dataset to reduce the number of rows if possible.

No dwh ideas where in place as the ict was happy they got rid of those obstinate guys wanting to do work on their data 😉 This was 30 years ago.

Agreed Jaap. Spreadsheet Anarchy is rife in most organisations because it is the only BI tool people know. The problem with anarchy is there is no discipline or control to ensure spreadsheets are used appropriately.
