Date problem

I have one problem when querying..when I take a date and time field and convert the output to month and year (JUN2007) . The problem I have is when I roll up the month year field I have trouble because it wants to not group when I sum up a number. Would you know what is happening or where I could get some advice on this problem?



Example of what is happening.

Jun2007 500

Jun2007 5000

Jun2007 10000

You do not mention whether you are grouping in a query or whether you are using an EG task.
